A Tricount alternative for the next trip

The stay, the taxi, the dinner someone skipped. Keep each expense with the people who shared it, add friends as guests, and see what is left to settle.

What to try before you switch

  • •Add travellers as guests before they create an account.
  • •Split each expense equally, by percentage, exact amount or receipt item.
  • •Review receipt and transaction-image scans before saving.
  • •Start a new trip after settling the old group; keep your Tricount records.

Your group has plans. The expenses can keep up.

Start the next trip together

Settle the old Tricount group, keep a copy of its records, and create a BananaSplit group for the next trip. Add each traveller as a member or guest. The documented CSV import is for Splitwise files; do not assume a Tricount export uses the same format.

One trip, different shares

Three friends share €120 of accommodation and a €30 taxi: €50 each. If one person skips the taxi, split that expense between the two who used it. Each expense can use equal shares, percentages, exact amounts or individual receipt items.

Capture the receipt, then check it

Use Snap It to prepare expenses from a dinner receipt or transaction screenshot. Review the amounts and assign personal items before saving. Expense entry has no daily cap on Free; scans and recurring expenses have separate plan limits.

Switching from Tricount

Can I import a Tricount export?

The documented BananaSplit import is for Splitwise CSV files, not Tricount exports. A straightforward switch is to settle the old Tricount group and start the next trip in BananaSplit. Keep your old records; Tricount support can help with exports.

How would we split a trip between three friends?

If Ana pays €120 for accommodation and Luis pays €30 for a taxi, the shared total is €150: €50 each. Luis owes Ana €20 and Mara owes Ana €50. Use a different split on any expense that was not shared equally.

What is free, and what needs Gold?

Free includes expense entry without a daily cap and guest participants. Receipt scans, recurring expenses, reminders and history have separate limits. Compare the current Free and Gold plans before switching.
