BananaSplit works offline

No signal at the festival, roaming off on the plane? Add expenses and payments anyway. They sync on their own when you're back online.

Friends cycling by the beach on vacation, the kind of trip where signal comes and goes

No signal at the festival. Roaming off on the plane. A cabin with one bar that comes and goes. That's exactly when the shared costs pile up, and exactly when splitting apps give up on you.

Not anymore. BananaSplit 1.15.3 now works offline.

Add it now, sync it later

Add an expense or a payment with no connection and BananaSplit keeps it on your phone. It shows up right where you added it, marked as not synced yet, so you always know where things stand.

  • Works for expenses and payments, in groups and with friends.
  • Opening the app offline still shows the groups, friends and activity you've seen recently.
  • Snap the receipt anyway in the app: the photo waits with the expense and goes up when it syncs.

It syncs on its own

When you're back online, everything goes out by itself, in the order you added it. Pull to refresh if you want it right now.

  • Every save carries its own ID, so a dropped connection never turns one expense into two.
  • If something can't sync, like a group you've been removed from, you'll see why and can try again or discard it.

Always clear what's not synced

  • A small pill at the top says when you're offline and how much is waiting.
  • Balances tell you when they don't include something yet: "Offline · 1 not synced".
  • Settings → Waiting to sync lists everything still on your phone.

What still needs a connection

Editing or deleting an expense, recurring expenses and payment reminders talk to everyone in the group in real time, so they wait until you're back online. BananaSplit tells you instead of failing quietly.

Built for the trips that matter

The best shared moments rarely happen next to good Wi-Fi. Festivals, flights, road trips and mountain weekends are where money gets shared the most, and they're the places with the worst signal. So we made sure BananaSplit keeps up with you there, and catches up on its own when the world does.
