Snap Any Image, Share Balances, See More

This update adds Snap It for any image with context, balance sharing for WhatsApp and Telegram, richer spending metrics, and a cleaner calendar view.

Shared money usually goes wrong in small moments.

A delivery screenshot. A hotel confirmation. A bank notification. A group chat where someone asks, "Wait, who owes who again?" A trip where the spending is moving faster than the spreadsheet energy anyone has left.

This update is about those moments.

BananaSplit now helps you add expenses from more kinds of images, explain balances outside the app, and understand how your group is spending with better metrics and a new calendar view.

Snap any image, with context

Snap It is no longer just for classic receipts.

You can now scan any image and tell BananaSplit what it is looking at: delivery order, hotel, ticket, price tag, screenshot, bank statement, menu, Excel table, and more.

Snap any receipt, screenshot, booking, menu, or document, then add context so BananaSplit knows what to find.

That extra context helps BananaSplit find the right expense amounts and descriptions faster.

Real life does not always hand you a tidy paper bill. Sometimes the expense is sitting in a chat screenshot, a booking page, or a photo from a place that absolutely did not design its receipt for humans. BananaSplit should still keep up.

Share balances as text

Balances are now easier to send where the group already talks.

You can copy who owes who and paste it straight into WhatsApp, Telegram, or any chat app.

BananaSplit share balances as text for WhatsApp or Telegram

Copy a clean balance summary and paste it straight into WhatsApp, Telegram, or the group chat.

No screenshot cropping. No "open the app and check." Just a clean text summary with the balances and a link back to the group.

This is for the exact moment after dinner, during checkout, or near the end of a trip when the money part needs to be clear without turning the chat into admin.

Metrics got better

Group stats now show spending over time, with filters for time range, category, and members.

Quick thank you to Jorge, who has shared a lot of thoughtful feedback with us, including the idea to add more time perspective to group analytics.

You can see how the group spends across 7 days, 30 days, 365 days, or a custom period.

Member metrics are better too, so it is easier to understand who paid, who spent, and where the money went.

This matters most in trips, couples, roommates, and recurring groups where the pattern is as important as the total. One number tells you what happened. Better metrics tell you the shape of it.

New calendar view

Adding dates is cleaner now.

The new calendar selector makes it easier to choose daily, weekly, and monthly moments without fighting a tiny date field.

Quick thanks again to Jorge for pushing us on this part too.

BananaSplit new calendar selector for choosing expense dates

Choose expense dates with a calendar view built for daily, weekly, and monthly shared-money moments.

It is a small interaction, but it touches a lot of expenses. When you are catching up on yesterday's dinner, logging a hotel payment, or backfilling a week of trip costs, the date should be obvious.

Faster where it counts

None of this is here to make shared expenses feel bigger.

It is here to make the money part smaller: fewer manual details, fewer explanations, fewer little moments where everyone knows the app should be doing more.

BananaSplit is moving fast because the category should move fast.

The bills are not done yet.
