Snap It now reads PDFs

Got the bill as a PDF? Snap It reads text PDFs now. Pick the file, review the expenses, skip the retyping.

Snap It upload sheet in BananaSplit with a button to upload an image or PDF of expenses

The bill arrives as a PDF. Hotel checkout. Bank statement. Delivery order. You already have the file. You should not have to screenshot it or type every line again.

Snap It now reads text PDFs.

Open a PDF, get the expenses

On iPhone and Android, Snap It has a Choose PDF button. On web, drop the file or upload it the same way you upload a photo.

  • Works for PDFs with a real text layer, not scanned image-only files.
  • Up to 10 pages. Long enough for a hotel folio or a statement, short enough to stay fast.
  • BananaSplit pulls the amounts and descriptions so you can review before saving.

Snap It review screen after reading a PDF bank statement: six transactions, one expense per line, ready to create

A bank statement PDF becomes six expenses. Pick the group, fix any line, then create them all.

Same Snap It flow you already know

You still get a chance to add context, fix a line, and decide what becomes an expense. The PDF is the source. The expense is yours to confirm.

  • If the PDF has no readable text, BananaSplit tells you and asks for another file or a photo.
  • If a scan misses the mark, say what was wrong and try again with better context.
  • The PDF itself is not attached as the expense photo. Use a receipt photo when you want that.

Built for the files you already get

Shared trips live in inboxes as much as in wallets. Booking confirmations, restaurant invoices, Uber statements, Airbnb extras. If it landed as a PDF with text, Snap It can start from there.

Photos still win for receipts

Paper receipts, screenshots, and messy real-world photos are still Snap It's home turf. PDFs add the other half of the story: the clean digital bills that never print.

Scan the photo when that is what you have. Open the PDF when that is what you were sent. Either way, less typing between the bill and the split.
