Head to head

Splitwise or Tricount: which is better?

Both track who paid and who owes, and both work offline. Splitwise Free limits how many expenses you can add each day; Tricount Free does not limit expenses but does not offer unlimited groups. Splitwise has a public API that community tools build on. If neither limit suits your group, BananaSplit Free has no daily expense cap, and you can import a Splitwise group from CSV.

Splitwise or Settle Up: which is better?

Settle Up works offline, imports Splitwise groups and exports CSV on its free plan, which shows ads. Its Premium adds receipt photos and recurring expenses. Splitwise Free limits daily expense entry. BananaSplit adds AI scans that read receipts, PDFs and screenshots, plus an official MCP server and CLI for AI assistants.

Tricount or Settle Up: which is better?

Both work offline and let friends take part before they install the app. Tricount Free does not offer unlimited groups; Settle Up puts receipt photos, recurring expenses and Excel export behind Premium. BananaSplit reads receipts and payment screenshots into expenses you review, with 3 AI scans a month on Free and 100 on Gold.

Splid or Splitwise: which is better?

Both work offline. Splitwise Free limits how many expenses you can add each day. BananaSplit Free does not, and it adds guests whose history transfers when they join, plus scans that turn an image into expenses.

Which apps are like Splitwise?

Tricount, Splid, Settle Up and BananaSplit all track shared costs and show who owes whom. They differ on free-plan limits, receipt scanning, import and export, and AI agent support; the table above compares them feature by feature.
